Mr. Billy Dan Shorts

February 17, 1948 - April 1, 2019

Tom and Ida Shorts, welcomed the earthly arrival of their baby boy, Billy Dan, on February 17, 1948. He was born and raised in Rosebud, Texas, with 11 brothers and sisters. Billy accepted Christ at an early age, he was a member of New Spirit of Prayer Ministries, where he served as a member of the Men’s Ministry. Billy attended Wilson-White High School in Rosebud, TX, where he ran track and played football. He was a part of the last graduating class of Wilson-White High in 1967. At age 17, Billy moved to Fort Worth. Shortly after, he began his career as a truck driver. He drove trucks for 25 years before retiring. He later went on to work security for Wackenhut Security until he retired in 2013. Billy married the love of his life, Ocleta Collins, in 2005 after dating for 9 years. Together they share 14 children. Billy had a love for people, his family was the core of his heart. He was lovingly known as “Dad” or “Pops” to the many who he adopted as children and those who adopted him as their father. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ida; brothers, Edgar, Willie B., R.T., James, Tom and Willie T.; sisters, Shirley, Abilene, Reen and Lola. Billy leaves to cherish his memories wife, Ocleta; four sons, Tim (Amber), Joseph (Robert-Thomas), Adrian (Coral), Terrence; ten daughters, Yolanda (Lenzy), Donna, Stella, Shasta, Billie, Lataria, Caleshia, Carlie, Charma, Alexis; 34 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Tommy Lee (Frank) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbors and friends.
